Watkin's Glen Hike

Watkin's Glen, NY is home to one of the most stunning state parks we've ever seen. These pix are from our mile & a half hike from the top to the bottom, continued from my Memorial Weekend post. The scenery is so breath-taking that I thought it deserved it's own post. Strollers were not allowed on the trails, but Max never complained and Mykah was too stunned by the beauty of our surroundings to think about anything else. The water poured over our heads at times, then plunged way below the trail at others. We had a beautiful day, so we wanted to share some of the view. We also drove to the Watkin's Glen International Speedway, but couldn't get close enough to get a great picture of the race track, but here's the sign at the entrance. My only regret is that the date stamp on these is an eyesore, but we'll never forget the date of this beautiful memory...

Memorial Weekend Vaycay '08

Over Memorial Day Weekend, we packed a picnic and headed to Watkin's Glen State Park, which is about 20 minutes from Ithaca. (45 from our house!) We had a wonderful day together, playing baseball & golf, hiking and just enjoying some family time on a beautiful day.

Max LOVES Mykah's old golf clubs. The cutest thing is that although Max is right handed when he throws, he's a lefty when it comes to swinging things (Which he does A LOT... Golf club, hockey stick, baseball bat), so it's really funny to see him hit with the back of the club!

Mykah learning to pitch... Dad's in the background coaching, of course.

I should never mess around while Joe has the camera. To make it worse, he used his, "I never make any requests for what you do on the blog. I want this picture on it." Great, all of you who know me can fall off your chairs laughing at this!

The Borich boys, including Bodie, taking it all in!

Toddler 6 pack?

Pretty big smiles after a mile and a half hike!

Mykah's glowing after a wonderful day... She got even more radiant when we told her we were going to see Harriett Tubman's house in Auburn(an add'l 45 min away). Mykah has been learning about her in school, so it was very cool to get to take her to see her actual home following her courageousness operating the Underground Railroad. We didn't get to go in because it was Sunday. Harriett's old church owns her house now and doesn't offer tours on Sunday. We'll have to go back...

Ithaca's Sciencenter

Ithaca has a wonderful place called the Sciencenter. Joe & the kids have been there before, but due to my incredibly heavy work schedule, I haven't been there before now. What an amazing place~filled with the wonders of science, carefully broken down into fun to learn pieces that children of all ages can enjoy! Most displays are interactive and I had so much fun watching the kids squeal with excitement as they explored something new. It also gave us a chance to hang out with our new friends Brian & Julie Cooper and their sons, Corey & Cole. Julie works at Maxie's daycare and Corey is in Mykah's class at school, so it was fun to interact on a more personal level. Thanks for a great day, guys!
